Celebrating First Holy Communion 2017

Information Evening

There will now be two information sessions for the sacrament of First Communion program. The first on Monday 18th September at 7pm in the church is for parents and carers of children who attend St Michael's School only. The second is for parents and carers of children who attend state or private schools and will be held on Thursday 21st September 2017 at 7.00 pm in the church. The parents or guardians of candidates celebrating their first Communion are asked to attend the relevant meeting which will run for approximately forty minutes. Candidates do not attend the information evening, only their parents or guardian.

First Communion Mass Dates

First Communion will be celebrated over three Masses: Sunday 5th November 2017 at 11.30 am and 2.00 pm and Sunday 12th November 2017 at 11.30 am.

Please note the children at St Michael's Parish celebrate their first Holy Communion in Year 3 (or above). They are required to have been baptised in the Catholic faith and to have made their first Reconciliation prior to making their first Communion.

Presentation Masses

Candidates making their first Communion are required to attend one of the weekend Masses at St Michael's (Saturday 6.00 pm, or Sunday 9.30 am or 6.00 pm) on October 28th or 29th, 2017. After the Homily at Mass Fr Geoffrey will invite the candidates to come forward with their Photo forms. The Parish Community then prays for the candidates as they prepare to celebrate the Sacrament. Their forms are collected and photographs of the candidates are displayed in the Church in the weeks leading up to the celebration.
