Celebrating First Holy Communion 2019

Information Evening

There will now be two information sessions for the sacrament of First Communion program. The first is for parents and carers of children who attend St Michael's School only and is scheduled for Tuesday 15th October at 7pm in the church. The second is for parents and carers of children who attend state or private schools on Thursday 17th October at 7pm in the church. The parents or guardians of candidates celebrating their first Communion are asked to attend the relevant meeting which will run for approximately forty minutes. Candidates are not required to attend the information evening.

First Communion Mass Dates

First Communion will be celebrated over three Masses: Sunday 10 November 2019 at 11.30 am and 2.00 pm and Sunday 17 November 2019 at 11.30 am.

Please note the children at St Michael's Parish celebrate their first Holy Communion in Year 3 (or above). They are required to have been baptised in the Catholic faith and to have made their first Reconciliation prior to making their first Communion. If they have not made their first Reconciliation they should contact Fr Geoffrey or enrol in the program run in July.

Presentation Masses

Candidates making their first Communion are required to attend one of the weekend Masses at St Michael's (Saturday 6.00 pm, or Sunday 9.30 am or 6.00 pm) on 26 or 27 October, 2019. After the Homily at Mass Fr Geoffrey will invite the candidates to come forward with their Photo forms. The Parish Community then prays for the candidates as they prepare to celebrate the Sacrament. Their forms are collected and photographs of the candidates are displayed in the Church in the weeks leading up to the celebration. Please print photo form in landscape orientation.
